During the whole month of November I'll be featuring Charlie DeChant on Sax and Flute.
I was introduced to Charlie by Mike Ryan at a concert at The Sail Pavilion (Tampa Convention Center) that featured The Charlie DeChant Band as a headliner and on which I performed alongside other local musicians.
I have had the great pleasure of playing with Charlie DeChant in a few different cities in Florida. One time we were getting ready for an event down in Key West and I mentioned that the client wanted to listen to Africa by Toto. Charlie grabbed his flute and proceeded to re-construct the timeless flute like solo in about 5 minutes. It was absolutely incredible to witness that.
Here's a little bit more on this talented multi-instrumentist and overall awesome guy.
Charles DeChant is the saxophone and keyboard player for the multi-platinum selling recording artists Hall & Oates. He has been playing in the band since 1976. Notable saxophone solos are heard in "One on One", "Maneater," the extended version of "Say It Isn't So," and "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)." DeChant also plays with several local bands in his home town, Orlando, Florida. He also plays flute, piano, and guitar.
Besides recording and touring with Hall & Oates, DeChant also played with other stars including Mick Jagger, The Temptations, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Bonnie Raitt, and The Average White Band. DeChant is now a writer, producer, and solo artist.
